August Festival Guide

Summer is the season for festivals! Whether your passion is music, food, wine or film, there are festivals across the nation you can attend for a day or weekend getaway.

 

North:

Festival on the Bay

The Festival on the Bay in Petosky, MI is perfect for the whole family, with music, carnival rides and plenty of events to keep you moving. The YMCA sponsors a Color Run while festival activities include an expansive craft fair, farmers market and entertainment.

South:

Delcambre Shrimp Fest

Because seafood from the South rules all, the 67th Annual Delcambre Shrimp Festival in Louisiana is where to go for good eats and fun entertainment. The street fair, musical entertainment and concessions will be sure to leave you full and entertained.

Sidewalk Fest

The Sidewalk Film Festival, in Birmingham, AL features six days of films in Birmingham’s historic theatre district, and encourages film lovers to seek out new, independent cinema. While you’re there, check out SHOUT, the LBGTQ film festival that teams up with Sidewalk to bring diversity to the arts.

East:

Prov. RI food truck fest

The 3rd Annual Providence Food Truck and Craft Beer Festival offers over 20 local food trucks and some of the best regional and national craft beers. Keep an eye out on their website for the featured trucks and beers for the day!

West:

Food and Wine Festivals are all the rage these days, and no one does It better than Los Angeles. Spend time in the lap of luxury at The LA Food and Wine Fest and indulge yourself with samples of exquisite dishes and see cooking demonstrations from some of the country’s top chefs.

Central:

Chicago Hot Dog Fest

As a personal fan of the classic Chicago dog, this festival is a must-do. The Chicago History Museum Hot Dog Festival , sponsored by Vienna Beef (of course), boasts the city’s best hot dog slingers, with entertainment and activities to keep you wanting dog after dog.

Werkout Fest

Dip your toes into a different kind of music festival at The Werk Out Festival in Thornville, OH. The lineup includes over 15 artists for a two-day music extravaganza, where you can camp via tent or RV with your friends (and a couple hundred other people too!).
